Prasava Raksha
Overview

What this service involves.

Prasava Raksha is Lifecare's specialised Ayurvedic postnatal care programme for mothers and babies, inspired by the classical principles of Sutika Paricharya described in the Ayurvedic texts. The programme is designed to support recovery after childbirth through personalised care that addresses physical healing, nourishment, rest, emotional wellbeing, lactation, and newborn care.

Care is adapted to the mother's stage of recovery and individual needs, combining traditional Ayurvedic therapies, restorative nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and practical support for the early weeks of motherhood. The focus is on helping mothers regain strength and confidence while supporting a smooth transition into life with a newborn.

To accommodate different recovery needs and schedules, care is available through 7-Day Recovery Reset, 14-Day Nourishment Programme, 21-Day Rejuvenation Programme, and 40-Day Complete Sutika Care packages.

Classical reference: Sutika Paricharya as described in Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya.

Common questions

Questions families ask.

Honest, practical answers to questions we hear most often before booking this service.

Can I start Prasava Raksha after a Caesarean delivery?

Yes. Postnatal care can be adapted following a Caesarean delivery. The timing and therapies are adjusted according to wound healing, recovery status, and the guidance of the treating obstetrician and Ayurvedic physician.

Is Ayurvedic care safe while breastfeeding?

Yes. Postnatal therapies, dietary recommendations, and any medicines prescribed are selected with breastfeeding and maternal wellbeing in mind. All recommendations are tailored to the individual mother's needs.

Can I choose a shorter programme instead of the full package?

Yes. Prasava Raksha is available through 7-day, 14-day, 21-day, and 40-day programmes, allowing mothers to choose the level of support that best suits their recovery needs, schedule, and family circumstances.

How soon after delivery can I begin?

For mothers following a vaginal delivery, care may often begin during the first week after childbirth, depending on recovery. Following a Caesarean delivery, care is typically started after adequate wound healing and appropriate medical clearance. The timing is personalised for each mother.
